[edit] IntroductionCanoes are widely used on appropriate Alaska waters. They are most useful on lakes and relatively slow rivers and creeks that are not subject to large waves. Canoes with small outboards are often used to ascend smaller rivers. Their large carrying capacity make them ideal for a number of outdoor activities. The Swanson River Lakes canoe route on the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge is a favorite Alaska canoeing and kayaking area. Many lakes are connected by a system of foot trails allowing travelers to deeply penetrate the wilderness country. [edit] External Links |
